Code of Conduct

Why this exists

We’re building a kind, focused space where you can grow as an independent, emotionally intelligent language learner. These simple rules protect everyone’s learning time.

1) Be kind, always

Treat others with respect. Listen well. Disagree thoughtfully. No harassment, hate speech, or personal attacks.

2) English first

Use English on campus at all times. You can use your first language to ask tech/admin questions to our administrators outside of sessions.

3) Camera on = real connection

Keep your camera on in Pods and all events. If your connection is unstable, tell your Learning Expert. Occasional exceptions are okay.

4) Fair use of AI

AI is a coach, not a shortcut. Use it to explore ideas, practise, or get feedback, not to submit work that isn’t yours.

5) Share your screen only when invited

For everyone’s privacy and focus, screen sharing happens when your Learning Expert asks you to share.

6) Privacy & recording

Sessions aren’t recorded by default. Some sessions may be recorded with advance notice. For public use, cameras will be blurred/cropped unless you give explicit consent. You can opt out and join the alternative event.

7) Safety in a 24/7 campus

Our campus is open all day. Outside scheduled events, time in Gather is unsupervised. Be mindful. Please report any issues, and we’ll act promptly.

8) Access & integrity

Only registered learners may join live sessions. Don’t share access links. Don’t disrupt others’ learning.

9) Tech that helps everyone

Use a headset, a quiet space, and a stable connection (Chrome or the Gather app). If you’re stuck, ask for help.

10) If something goes wrong

Tell us at hello@metaeffect.school, via website chat, the Virtual Campus (Reception/DM an admin or Learning Expert), or our social channels. We’ll listen, support, and step in when needed.

Consequences may include a reminder, a warning, temporary access limits, or, if needed, suspension/termination of access per policy.
